Born in 1985, Nandita grew up in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn and upstate New York. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts in 2009 from Columbia University in NYC and previously studied lighting and photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP).
Her work explores the fantastical, the mythological, and the psychological - particularly the roles women play in these scenarios. By transforming everyday elements into mysterious and seductive environments, she attempts to merge the grotesque with the beautiful, creating a rather curious narrative.
In addition to fine art, her experience in photography ranges from shooting music video stills to fashion to more traditional portraiture. She takes pride in executing nearly all of the effects in her photos without the aid of Photoshop and is available for commissioned work, especially creative projects.
Nandita currently lives and works in New York City.
